Here are some Sumi-e paintings done by my 3rd-5th grade class at the Living Arts and Science Center.

 



Summer Art

I'm teaching at the Living Art and Science Center in Lexington, KY this summer. This is the best summer job ever, as I get to teach exactly what I want to teach and work with kids who really excited about art.

 

This is the first set of photos from the classes I have been teaching. One of my classes is a Middle-High school level class on D.I.Y comic and zine creation. So far, most of the kids have completed one mini-comic, and I will post more as the rest finish. I have them shown here unfolded so that all the pages are visible.

 

 

 



Clay Bobbleheads!

This lesson came straight from the Pintrest universe. My 7th grade 3D Design class really enjoyed this project. Clay is a new thing for a lot of the kids I teach here, so its always a popular media. Here are some examples of their work:

This one's body exploded in the  kiln :(

8th grade Tattoo Project. Students created a flash design, made a plaster cast of their arm, and repainted the design on the cast. They studies different styles of tattoos from various cultures and chose one as inspiration for their own tattoo, using their interests as subject matter. I'm pretty impressed with my little dudes!
